About The Role The Incoming Quality Control Engineer will help to maintain and elevate our high standards for electronic materials, components, and assemblies. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and managing inspection protocols, supporting supplier quality initiatives, conducting thorough root cause analyses, and leading evaluations of supplier-provided materials prior to production. This position is onsite and is located in our manufacturing plant in Chihuahua and reports to the Quality Manager. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain incoming inspection procedures for electronic components, PCBs, SMT and THT materials. Conduct material verification, dimensional checks, visual inspection, and functional tests as required. Lead IQC processes for SMT components, including solder paste, PCBs, connectors, semiconductors, resistors, capacitors, ICs, and mechanical hardware. Manage First Article Inspection (FAI), SFARs (when applicable), and approval of supplier materials. Ensure inspection equipment (AOI, multimeters, calipers, microscopes) is correctly used and calibrated. Participate in the establishment of IQC labs, inspection stations, and workflows. Contribute to PFMEA, process validation, and risk assessment activities. Train inspectors and technicians on new procedures, standards, and equipment. Work with suppliers to resolve non-conforming materials and conduct root-cause analysis. Issue Supplier MIRs and corrective Action Requests and verify effectiveness of corrective actions. Support supplier audits and supplier approval processes as required. Develop and maintain supplier quality performance metrics. Maintain inspection records and quality documentation per Leviton standards (COAs, COCs). Create acceptance criteria, control plans, check sheets, and quality alerts. Support the implementation of ISO 9001, and internal audit requirements. Work closely with Production, Engineering, NPI, SQE, and Logistics to ensure smooth material flow. Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities for incoming defects. Provide support for new product introductions, engineering changes, and PCBA process improvements. Performs other assigned tasks as required. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering (with electronics experience) or related field. 3+ years of experience in quality engineering in electronics manufacturing, preferably in PCBA/SMT environments. Knowledge of IPC standards: IPC-A-610, IPC-7351, IPC-7711/7721, or equivalent. Experience with incoming inspection techniques, root cause analysis, and quality tools (8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa). Ability to interpret schematics, BOMs, PCBA drawings, and component datasheets. Familiarity with electronic components and SMT processes (reflow, solder paste, pick-and-place, AOI). Proficiency with MS Office tools and quality systems. Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems. Familiar with inspection sampling plans Qualifications Knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP. Experience with metrology equipment (X-ray, AOI, solder paste inspection, CMM). Certifications: CQE, IPC Specialist, or Six Sigma Green Belt. Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar). Vendor/supplier development experience. Experience in automotive or high-volume consumer electronics. Deep understanding of PCBA and SMT manufacturing processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to create and implement inspection standards. Knowledge of statistical tools (SPC, capability analysis, sampling plans). Ability to lead and mentor quality inspectors. Strong communication with cross-functional teams and suppliers. Decision-making under pressure. Ability to drive corrective action and continuous improvement. Work Environment Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Occasional extended hours or weekend work may be necessary to meet production deadlines. Travel Up to 10% travel may be required, or as needed for business functions.
