Design Manager – The Standard, Mexico City Your role Partner with the General Manager, Senior Executive team, and the New York‑based Corporate Design team to bring interior design initiatives across the property. Lead critical FF&E projects and refurbishment works, ensuring design concepts and interior schemes stay on brief, on time and on budget. Manage the ongoing evolution and staging of guestrooms, suites, restaurants, bars and public areas, ensuring every detail is culturally relevant and unmistakably The Standard. Act as the go‑to for all hotel design projects: develop scopes of work, manage RFP processes, build project timelines and oversee supplier relationships. Work closely with Engineering and external consultants to deliver accurate documentation, meet compliance requirements and install solutions seamlessly within a live, high‑volume environment. Coordinate procurement, deliveries, and installations to minimise operational disruption. Guard the design ethos across the property: furniture layouts, lighting schemes, styling details and seasonal updates. Conduct regular walk‑throughs to maintain standards and identify creative enhancement opportunities. Partner with Events, Marketing and F&B to deliver distinctive finishing touches for launches, collaborations and cultural activations. Translate creative vision into tangible spaces under pressure, delivering in a fast‑paced, design‑forward environment while presenting strategy and being hands‑on during installations. Qualifications Minimum 3–5 years experience in interior design, architecture, construction or hospitality project management, ideally in Mexico City and within a design‑led or lifestyle environment. Strong understanding of the Mexico City hotel and lifestyle market and current design trends across hospitality, food & beverage, retail and cultural spaces. Demonstrated design sensibility with a portfolio of completed projects that showcase creativity and technical competence. Solid knowledge of Mexican building regulations, compliance processes and statutory approvals. Experience managing refurbishments or construction projects within operational hotels or high‑volume hospitality environments. Confidence leading FF&E selection, procurement and installation from concept to completion. Commercial awareness – ability to prepare costings, manage budgets and deliver projects within agreed financial parameters. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously. Exceptional attention to detail and strong administrative and IT capability – MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD and 3D design software such as SketchUp or Rhino. Confident communicator, comfortable presenting ideas to senior stakeholders and collaborating cross‑functionally with Engineering, Operations, Events and Marketing. Well connected within Mexico City’s design, supplier and creative communities. Flexible approach to working hours when project timelines and installations require.
