Senior LATAM Trade Program Manager, Amazon Leo 3 days ago – Be among the first 25 applicants Description Amazon’s Leo is a low Earth orbit satellite broadband network that delivers fast, reliable internet to customers and communities worldwide. The system is designed for a wide range of users—from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies and other organizations in areas without reliable connectivity. This position may require access to information, technology or hardware subject to export control laws and regulations (EAR and ITAR). Employment is contingent upon obtaining any required export licenses or approvals. Candidates must be eligible to obtain necessary export licenses based on nationality, citizenship and other applicable factors. Key Responsibilities Manage import customs compliance for Leo (Kuiper) imports into Mexico and other LATAM countries, including tariff classifications, country of origin determination, product valuation reporting and import license applications. Collaborate with Leo Tax, Legal and Transportation teams on Mexico import requirements and documentation. Review import documents for accuracy and completeness. Support Leo’s customs brokers with data needed for entry filing. Monitor entry status of imports and provide updates on holds or delays. Respond timely and compliantly to import holds. Upload and maintain electronic import files in the record‑retention repository for audit purposes. Handle HS and extrat-iffo classification, maintain items database in the ERP system, support HTS challenges and work with Legal on classification rulings. Analyze customs tariffs & duty rates. Maintain customs compliance work instructions and SOPs, manage document revisions and support continuous process improvement. Follow internal controls to ensure compliance with foreign import regulations. Track and communicate import metrics (transit time, compliance accuracy, cost, broker performance). Conduct compliance audits and implement corrective actions. Provide compliance training and keep records of training. Interpret Mexico and other LATAM import regulations and track changes. Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, finance, tax and engineering functions. Day in the Life At Amazon we embrace diversity and inclusion. The Team The Senior LATAM Program Manager ensures compliance with Mexican laws and expands operational compliance programs across Central and South America. Reporting to the Global Customs Operations Manager, the role promotes the sustainability of the customs compliance program and coordinates daily import transactions. Basic Qualifications 5+ years of relevant work experience in industry or academia. Fluency in written and spoken English. Fluency in written and spoken Spanish. 5+ years of experience with Mexican import customs, taxes, documentation and record keeping. 5+ years of experience engaging customs brokers and handling end‑to‑end import transactions. Advanced Excel and ERP (preferably SAP) skills with data interpretation ability. Experience auditing customs transactions, including self‑assessments and external audits. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of PGA regulations in the aerospace industry. Experience with compliance programs in South/Central America outside of Mexico. Comfort with ambiguity and a curiosity to learn new skills. Experience building or supporting a compliance program in a startup environment.
