At R2, we believe that small and medium businesses are the productive engine of society. Small and medium businesses (SMBs) make up over 90% of companies in Latin America, yet they face a trillion-dollar credit gap. Our mission is to unlock SMBs’ potential by providing financial solutions that are tailored to their needs. We are reimagining the financial infrastructure of Latin America - where SMBs financial needs are satisfied without ever having to go to a bank. R2 enables platforms in Latin America to embed financial services that SMBs can then leverage (starting with revenue-based financing). We are a tight knit team coming from organizations such as Google, Amazon, Nubank, Uber, Capital One, Mercado Libre, Globant, J.P. Morgan. We are entering a new phase of growth following a strategic investment from Ant International, focused on rapidly expanding our partner footprint, strengthening our credit and underwriting capabilities, and scaling our operations across multiple markets. We are looking for a Director of People with a founder mentality: a strategic leader who can both architect and execute. You will own the full People function, leading and scaling a team across People Ops, Talent Acquisition, and Culture. This role is critical to taking R2 from 65 to 130+ team members in 2026, while preserving our culture, elevating performance, and building the systems needed for long-term scale. You will report directly to R2’s Co-Founder and CEO, work directly with R2’s founders and leadership team and be a key voice in shaping the company’s future. What you will do People Strategy & Leadership Partner closely with founders and executives on organizational design, long‑term headcount strategy, and leadership development. Build and lead a high‑performing People team (People Ops, Talent Acquisition, Culture & Engagement). Develop the multi‑year People roadmap aligned with R2’s growth, expansion, and operating model. Performance, Compensation & Development Own R2’s end‑to‑end performance evaluation and compensation cycles, ensuring fairness, clarity, and continuous improvement. Introduce leadership development programs, learning & development strategies, career frameworks, and continuous feedback practices. Partner with managers to strengthen managerial capability, team dynamics, and conflict resolution. People Operations & Compliance Oversee HR processes across countries including onboarding, payroll coordination, benefits, HRIS, and compliance. Ensure operational excellence: streamlined processes, accurate data, and scalable systems. Drive the optimal use of our HRIS and People analytics tools and platforms (e.g., BambooHR). Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding Design and lead the recruitment strategy to attract top talent across R2’s hubs. Partner with hiring managers to build efficient, structured, high‑signal hiring processes. Oversee employer branding, crafting a compelling narrative for R2’s talent market positioning. Culture & Engagement Preserve and strengthen a values‑driven culture aligned with R2’s mission and operating principles. Lead internal communications and culture initiatives to elevate the employee experience. Own engagement surveys, eNPS, and action plans to continually improve team sentiment, cohesion, and performance. What Great Looks Like After 12 Months You have: Built a cohesive, high‑performing People team. Doubled the organization while raising the talent bar. Implemented structured hiring, performance, and compensation frameworks. Elevated manager quality through training, coaching, and development programs. Implemented reliable People dashboards with actionable insights. Made R2’s culture stronger, sharper, and more aligned with our mission. Become a trusted advisor to founders and leaders on all People matters. Qualifications 8+ years of experience in People/HR roles, ideally in high‑growth technology or international environments. Deep expertise in People Operations, Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, and organizational design. Strong analytical skills and data‑driven mindset. Proven success scaling People & Culture functions or leading teams during rapid organizational growth. Experience supporting multicultural, distributed teams across Latin America. Strategic thinker with a hands‑on, operational approach. Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and problem‑solving skills. High integrity, ownership mindset, and ability to thrive in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments. Preferred Skills Experience outside HR (e.g., consulting, operations) is a plus. Background in organizational development or change management. Experience in tech or high‑performance, founder‑led environments. Locations: Mexico City, Mexico or São Paulo, Brazil #J-18808-Ljbffr
