Position Overview Infectious Disease Specialist for International Humanitarian Missions. Minimum availability of 6 months. Please upload your CV and motivation letter in English. Essential Qualifications General Physician Degree. Minimum 2 years practicing as General Physician in a hospital with multi-purpose activities. Minimum 2 years treating patients with infectious disease in an inpatient facility, including HIV, TB and/or DRTB. Diploma or equivalent experience in Infectious Diseases. English (B2 or higher level). Spanish (C1 or higher level). Computer literacy (Word, Excel, internet). Desirable Qualifications Diploma in tropical medicine. Internal Medicine specialization. Experience managing advanced HIV, DRTB, visceral leishmaniasis, intensive care, diagnostic techniques, and radiography interpretation. Work experience with MSF and other NGOs in developing countries. Knowledge of French. Responsibilities Apply medical knowledge to diagnose and prevent disease. Conduct outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing treatment in accordance with MSF protocols. Inform patients and families about illness and treatment plans, ensuring understanding. Follow up hospitalized patients through daily visits, consultations, and examinations; determine discharge or transfer decisions with other doctors. Control rational distribution of medicines and equipment, ensuring quality, disinfection, and sterilization; maintain hygiene standards. Collect and analyze epidemiological data; report issues or complications to the line manager or project coordinator. Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical team to optimize quality of care. Ensure all MSF medical protocols are followed, universal precautions are implemented, bio‑hazard risks are reduced, and infection control is improved. Manage the team in accordance with MSF HR policies: supervise performance, schedule shifts, and participate in emergencies and on‑call duties. Clinically evaluate newly admitted patients, leading diagnosis and management processes. Manage advanced HIV and opportunistic infections, focusing on disseminated tuberculosis and other common OIs; support ART switch decisions based on Indian/WHO Guidelines. Manage severe acute malnutrition, comorbidities, and common adverse events. Monitor antibiotic prescription and use; manage reserve or rare antibiotics. Advise and contribute to SOPs related to infectious disease management and clinical care. Build capacity of ward team through bedside training to MSF medical doctors and nurses in infectious diseases. Profile and Eligibility Due to local legal restrictions, international doctors cannot perform direct clinical work but may examine patients with consent and advise local resident doctors on treatment plans; they may supervise procedures. Position Conditions Work venue: Location determined by project needs. Duration: Minimum 6 months. Working day: Full time. Start: Depending on project needs. Remuneration: In the first 12 months, gross monthly bonus approx. USD $1,500. From the second year, remuneration increases based on experience and responsibility level. Private insurance coverage includes medical, hospital, temporary disability, and life insurance; arranged medical evacuation. Housing, basic services, cleaning, and washing covered. Transportation, visas, transfers to destination country, and field displacements covered by MSF. Per diem mainly for meals and small personal expenses. The vacancy remains open all year round due to the needs within the Humanitarian Missions. Selection process may take 3 to 6 months; accepted applicants join the MSF International Pool; mission assignment may take 3 to 6 months after validation.
