Director of Community Engagement Mexico – Royal Caribbean Group This on-site role is based in Mahahual, México. The Community Engagement team at Royal Caribbean Group has an exciting full-time opportunity for a senior leader who will drive strategic, operational, and social impact management of community engagement across Quintana Roo and other Mexico priority locations. The Head will develop and execute a comprehensive engagement strategy in partnership with on-the-ground business integration and operations teams to promote sustainable tourism, education, cultural enrichment, and economic empowerment. The Head will serve as the primary liaison between Royal Caribbean Group and local stakeholders, delivering measurable impact and reinforcing the company’s commitment to Mexican communities where we sail and call home. Overview Position Summary: The Head of Community Engagement Mexico is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping the company’s regional programs aligned with Royal Caribbean Group’s SEA the Future commitment and values. This role fosters meaningful relationships with local communities and institutions, guiding programs that support well-being, resilience, and community development. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Design and execute a regionally tailored community engagement strategy across key Mexico destinations, aligned with RCG’s SEA the Future pillars. Program Leadership: Serve as the senior point of contact for all community-related initiatives in Mexico, providing on-the-ground insights and coordinating across internal departments and external stakeholders. Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with Miami-based leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure strategic alignment and effective program execution. Advisory: Act as a strategic advisor to internal teams, embedding community engagement in business integration, operations, and expansion efforts across Mexico. Project Management: Oversee strategic projects from planning to execution, ensuring alignment with goals and community needs. Community Programming Oversee and lead the implementation of community investment plans, including grantmaking, sponsorships, and volunteer activities. Develop and manage local community giving, including budgeting, grant distribution, and impact tracking. Drive the creation and operation of a community fund, including governance and funding strategy. Secure government approvals and maintain compliance for all community initiatives. Strategize shipboard volunteer efforts with shoreside teams to support the local community and ensure measurable impact. Promote educational programming/training at RCG University and University of Quintana Roo for residents. Direct and lead the relocation of the Mahahual Community Center to a new location by Q1 2026, in coordination with the Community Center Director and operations teams. Stakeholder Engagement Act as the RCG senior representative in Mexico, cultivating high-trust relationships with government entities, NGOs, academic institutions, and community leaders. Represent the company in public forums, stakeholder meetings, and community events to elevate priorities and foster collaboration. Identify strategic partnership opportunities and manage stakeholder engagement, providing feedback and corrective action plans to support community investment initiatives. Essential Skills: Leadership, Organizational, Communication (Spanish and English), Measuring Engagement (metrics, growth, sentiment analysis). Measurement & Reporting Track and report on key performance indicators related to community impact, stakeholder engagement, satisfaction, and program reach. Manage Mexico portfolio data analytics for contributions to the annual Community Impact Report and related communications. Ensure data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement across initiatives. Team Collaboration Supervise 2 Community Engagement staff based in Mahahual, Mexico. Coordinate with the AVP of Community Engagement, Director of Business Integration, and Manager of Communications to ensure cohesive messaging and execution. Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to connect community members with employment pathways. Work with port agents and Mahahual site teams to ensure smooth operations and compliance. Qualifications Fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal). Bachelor’s degree in Corporate Responsibility, Public Affairs, Public Administration, Communications, or related field with community impact experience; Master’s preferred in Public Administration, International Development, Social Impact, or related field. Minimum 8 years of progressive leadership experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement, public affairs, and/or regional development. Strong cross-cultural communication and cultural competence with understanding of social dynamics in Quintana Roo, especially Mahahual/Costa Maya; proven relationships in the region. Strategic thinker who is operationally focused, proactive, and experienced in capacity building and grassroots strategy development. Proven ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders and lead cross-sector collaborations. Problem-solving, conflict resolution, adaptive thinking, and resilience in dynamic environments. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with grant-making software (Blackbaud a plus). Experience in tourism, sustainability, or nonprofit sectors is a plus. Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills. Mandatory travel between key regions in Mexico and Miami, Florida.
