The Associated Press is seeking an experienced news producer with a strong track record in video storytelling to temporarily join our team based in Mexico City, Mexico. In this role, you’ll be part of our global video production operation, working closely with output editors and other producers, and collaborating with AP journalists across formats to deliver compelling, high-impact journalism that aligns with AP’s digital-first strategy. Your work will help meet the needs of AP’s customers for speedy,accurateand engaging content and contribute to expanding our digital audience. Responsibilities Reporting to the Executive Producer for Global Production, you will be a key participant in the production of video content used by AP customers who rely on us to cover stories anywhere in the world. You will: Edit story elements creatively to produce strong visual narratives for broadcasters and digital audiences. Exercise excellent news judgment when making editorial decisions. Write relevant storylines and shotlists with speed and accuracy. Edit breaking news video from live feeds on deadline. Use social media as a newsgathering tool. Apply visual verification techniques (familiarity with AP verification tools is a plus). As AP is a 24/7 global news organization, you must have the ability and willingness to work nights and weekends as coverage demands. We’reLooking for Someone Who: Hasa keen interest in global news anddemonstratesstrong news judgment and innovative storytelling skills that appeal to digital audiences. You can communicate and drive stories that people want to share,likeand discuss on social media and other platforms. Thrives in a breaking news environment and hasa track recordof delivering under deadline pressure. Has strong writing skills in English, with the ability to write clearly and succinctly to pictures. Demonstrates excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse team of journalists working across formats: text, photo, video, audio, digital/social, interactive and graphics. Pursues innovative and inclusive storytelling techniques while consistentlymaintainingAP’s standards for integrity and objectivity. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, such as at least three years of full-time experience at a daily newspaper, broadcast station, online or digital news outlet, or an AP bureau or regional desk. Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English. Advanced-levelprofessional competency in non-linear video editing. Authorization to work inMexicois mandatory. Superior production and technical editing skills with DaVinci Resolve or a similar program. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work to deadline, communicate effectively across formats, anddeliver oncomplex and challenging storylines. Preferred Qualifications Proficiencyin multiple languages is preferred. We will consider strong candidates who do not meet every listed qualification.
