Your Job As a Manufacturing Automation Software Engineer at Molex, you will design, develop, and maintain advanced automation software systems that support high-volume manufacturing. Leveraging your expertise in Python programming, industrial communication protocols, and motion control, you will play a key role in optimizing machine performance, ensuring quality through vision systems, and troubleshooting complex automation challenges. Your work will enable seamless integration of new technologies while supporting continuous improvement in production efficiency. Our Team You will be part of the Optics Solutions Business Unit (OSBU) at Molex Guadalajara, a cutting-edge division focused on the design and implementation of innovative automation technologies in fiber optics and electronics manufacturing. Our team collaborates closely with global customers and internal stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-performance automated manufacturing solutions. What You Will Do Lead the design, debugging, and implementation of automation software using Python to support manufacturing operations. Integrate and manage vision inspection systems (e.g., Cognex) to ensure product quality and process reliability. Develop and control motion systems involving stepper motors and servomotors to optimize equipment performance. Create and maintain databases that support automation equipment and high-volume production environments. Troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware issues to maintain smooth operation of automated systems. Collaborate across teams to propose and implement technical solutions that enhance manufacturing processes. Document software changes and upgrades via formal change control boards (CCB/CRB), ensuring traceability and compliance. Provide training and mentorship to technicians and colleagues on automation software and systems. Continuously monitor emerging automation technologies to ensure software compatibility and apply best practices. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electronics, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or related fields. Strong proven experience in automation software development and support within a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in Python programming and familiarity with databases, including SQL and RESTful APIs. Technical English communication skills adequate for reading documentation and collaborating with international suppliers. Experience with vision systems and motion control hardware (stepper and servo motors). What Will Put You Ahead Experience with Cognex vision system programming and Delta Tau motion controllers. Certification or training in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or equivalent). Knowledge of control panel wiring and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet, RS232, I2C). Exposure to machine learning or AI applications in automation. Background in electronics or fiber optics manufacturing automation. Additionally, everyone has individual work and personal needs.
