Ichor’s Precision Machiningbusiness (IPM) is seeking a hands-on Purchasing Manager to play a critical role in scaling and transforming our Mexico machining operation during a period of significant growth. This is a working manager role for a leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys rolling up their sleeves, and wants to directly shape how a high-growth manufacturing site operates.In this role, you will lead a small team of buyers while personally executing daily purchasing activities, deploying advanced ERP tools, strengthening supplier performance, and building scalable procurement processes that support aggressive growth and rapid time-to-market demands. You will be a key driver of operational transformation, with high visibility and meaningful influence across the site. This position is on-site and embedded within Ichor Precision Machining Mexico’s procurement and operations teams. What You’ll Own & Drive Act as a player-coach, leading and developing a small team while remaining deeply involved in day-to-day purchasing, expediting, and supplier issue resolution. Build, standardize, implement and continuously improve global procurement processes that scale with site growth and increasing production complexity. Translate corporate procurement strategy into practical, executable solutions on the shop floor. Drive supplier performance improvements across cost, lead time, capacity, and delivery in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Personally lead and execute cost reduction, inventory optimization, and efficiency improvement initiatives with measurable impact. Serve as a key procurement partner for New Product Introductions, ensuring speed, accuracy, and cross-functional alignment. Own procurement data integrity and system configuration, including item masters, quote masters, MRP settings, and supplier delivery parameters within ERP systems. Actively manage escalations, remove bottlenecks, and bring urgency and clarity to problem solving across suppliers and internal stakeholders. Provide clear visibility to leadership through metrics, insights, and progress reporting on transformation initiatives. Partner cross-functionally with Quality, Planning, Manufacturing, Material Handling, and Engineering to continuously improve handoffs, information flow, and execution at functional interfaces. Lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts to eliminate recurring gaps between procurement, planning, and shop floor execution (e.g., shortages, misaligned schedules, quality holds, and material flow constraints). Leadership & Culture Impact Lead by example through hands-on execution, accountability, and a bias for action. Foster a culture of transparency, ownership, and continuous improvement. Encourage early issue identification, root-cause problem solving, and rapid corrective action. Develop team capability while building systems and processes that reduce dependency on heroics as the site scales. Promote a systems-thinking mindset, focusing on optimizing overall site performance rather than individual functional metrics. Success Metrics Supplier on-time delivery, lead time, cost, RTV, and capacity performance Inventory health and material availability Execution of cost and process improvement initiatives What You Bring Strong ability to communicate clearly and drive alignment across suppliers, operations, engineering, quality, and leadership. A builder’s mindset — comfortable operating in environments where processes are evolving and structure is being created. Proven ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on execution in a high-growth manufacturing setting. Results-driven, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable making decisions with imperfect information. Deep understanding of purchasing, supplier selection, negotiation, and cost analysis. Experience & Background ~ Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering. ~7+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing environments, including 2+ years leading direct reports in a hands-on or working manager role. ~ Experience across multiple operational disciplines such as procurement, planning, production management, master scheduling, factory engineering, logistics, or program management. ~ Strong understanding of machine shops or precision manufacturing environment. ~ Demonstrated success in the driving process improvement and operational change. ~ Experience with tier-one ERP and PLM systems (Oracle, SAP, Agile)
