The AME Manager for Machining & Electroplating Operations is responsible for leading the engineering strategy, industrialization, and continuous improvement of all machining and plating processes within the site. This role will drive the successful launch of new products (NPI), manage technology and process transfers from our key customer and joint venture partner, and ensure manufacturability, quality, and efficiency across programs. The AME Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to support operational excellence and growth. Key Responsibilities: 1. New Product Introduction (NPI) & Transfers Lead industrialization and launch readiness for all new parts Coordinate APQP deliverables (PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow, etc.) and ensure on-time PPAP approval. Collaborate with engineering and program teams to align design with manufacturing capabilities. Ensure equipment, tooling, and process readiness for seamless transition to mass production. 2. Process Engineering Leadership Own machining and electroplating process development, standardization, and optimization. Ensure all processes meet quality, safety, cost, and cycle time targets. Lead the implementation of best practices and new technologies (cutting tools, plating chemistry, automation, etc.). Develop and manage equipment specifications and coordinate with suppliers for acquisition and commissioning. 3. Cross-functional Collaboration Work closely with operations, maintenance, tooling, and quality teams to drive performance improvements. Act as liaison between plant and foundry to ensure seamless integration of upstream and downstream processes. Support cross-plant coordination with other facilities to align technical standards and drive synergy. 4. Team Development & Leadership Build and lead a high-performing AME team with competencies in machining, plating, automation, and tooling. Establish a structured engineering follow-up system to ensure project discipline and milestone tracking. Develop engineers through mentorship and skills matrix progression aligned with strategic capabilities. 5. Continuous Improvement & Cost Reduction Identify and implement productivity, OEE, scrap, and cost reduction initiatives. Drive root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for chronic process issues. Leverage Lean, Six Sigma, and digital tools to achieve sustainable improvements. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (Master's preferred). 7+ years in manufacturing engineering with strong experience in CNC machining and electroplating. Proven NPI launch experience with Tier 1 automotive customers Experience with technology transfers and industrialization in high-volume manufacturing. Deep knowledge of APQP, PPAP, IATF 16949, and lean manufacturing methodologies. Hands-on experience in tooling/fixture design, machining parameters, and plating process control. Fluent in English (German is a plus). Demonstrated leadership and project management experience in complex, matrixed environments.
