The MRO Manager is responsible for leading the purchasing and assisting Corporate Commodities with sourcing Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) products and services across the organization for the High-tech Industrial and Medical Division. This role combines leadership, technical procurement, and supports the Corporate Commodity Initiatives in strategic sourcing activities to drive operational excellence. The MRO Manager oversees a team of buyers and develops tools, KPIs, and assist with sourcing strategies to optimize the MRO supply base, mitigate risk, manage inventory, and reduce costs. The role includes responsibility for supplier qualifications, supporting cost reduction initiatives, risk management, and ongoing performance improvement. The MRO Manager ensures ERP data accuracy, leads QBRs, and supports compliance across all purchasing activities. Leadership and Management: Recruitment & Team Development: Assist MRO Corporate management with the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of MRO buyers and sourcing staff. Assess individual and team capabilities; implement development and succession planning. Provide coaching and performance feedback to build procurement expertise and drive team accountability. Develop and deliver structured training for sourcing best practices and ERP tools. Provide guidance to MRO buyers and ensure alignment to plant requirements and business objectives. Performance & Communication: Define, track, and review KPIs across MRO spend categories and supplier performance and report to management. Facilitate weekly meetings to discuss team status, updates, and issue resolution. Tailor communications to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement in purchasing efficiency and stakeholder satisfaction. Lead response and escalation planning for critical material shortages or emergencies. Functional Responsibilities: Business Strategy & Cost Management: Develop site-specific and global sourcing strategies to align with corporate goals. Assist in Leading MRO sourcing and commodity strategies, including indirect materials and services. Lead cost reduction projects using spend analysis, market intelligence, supplier consolidation, alternate sourcing, and consumption control. Apply financial tools to evaluate supplier proposals and drive cost transparency. Mitigate cost impact from tariffs and regulatory changes. Drive margin protection strategies include pricing optimization and value engineering. Integrate MRO products into MRP (Epicor) System for streamlined processes and visibility. Forecasting & Market Analysis: Build and maintain demand forecasts for core MRO categories. Monitor commodity and supply markets for pricing, lead time, and risk trends. Communicate strategic market insights to leadership and plant stakeholders. Develop supply continuity plans to respond to economic or supplier disruptions. Supply Chain & Contract Management: Assist and oversee execution of RFQs, PO management, contract development, and supplier KPI reporting. Manage all supplier agreements, including pricing, delivery terms, and risk clauses. Ensure ERP system data accuracy, pricing consistency, and supplier documentation compliance. Establish safety stock, reorder points, and excess mitigation strategies to optimize working capital. Lead business reviews (QBRs) with suppliers to assess performance and drive corrective actions. Oversee third-party logistics and freight coordination for inbound MRO materials. Technical Responsibilities: Commodity & Supplier Development: Lead sourcing efforts for technical commodities including electrical, consumables, packaging, chemicals, mechanical, and plant equipment. Develop long-term supplier relationships and execute QBRs to ensure consistent service levels. Collaborate with NPI projects and maintenance-driven sourcing plans. Develop supplier capabilities aligned to quality requirements, and facility requirements. Support root cause analysis and CAPA initiatives for supplier performance issues. Lead continuous improvement and Lean Six Sigma projects in MRO procurement. Partner with engineering and maintenance teams on new equipment or spare parts sourcing. Support quality certifications requirements, readiness and maintain QMS compliance. Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong leadership and supplier negotiation capabilities. Proficient in ERP/MRP systems, inventory management, and procurement analytics. Proven experience in MRO, indirect procurement, and supplier relationship management. Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and vendor contracts. Strong command of Microsoft Office, especially Excel for spend analysis and cost modeling. Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English. Working knowledge of Lean, ISO9001, and OSHA standards. Demonstrated success managing teams in a matrix environment. Experience / Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering, or related field required. Experience in sourcing or MRO procurement roles. Experience in contract manufacturing or industrial environments is preferred. Project management certification or experience is a plus. MRO plant-level or multi-site procurement leadership preferred.
