Key Functional Areas of Responsibility 1. Engineering & Process Development Technical Leadership Lead engineering strategy for new product introductions (NPI), new equipment installation (NEI), and process development. Drive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes through layout redesign, capacity analysis, ergonomic enhancements, and workflow optimization. Project Management Manage the full lifecycle of capital projects (CAPEX): justification, design, vendor selection, budgeting, installation, validation, and handover. Develop engineering standards, process documentation, and technical specifications for all equipment and systems. Technological Innovation Introduce automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0 technologies to improve safety, productivity, and process capability. Ensure compliance with internal engineering standards, local regulations, and applicable safety codes. 2. Maintenance Management Asset Reliability Direct preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs covering production equipment, utilities, industrial systems, and the physical plant. Implement reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM) and condition monitoring tools (vibration, thermography, oil analysis, etc.) to reduce unplanned downtime. Performance Management Monitor KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, OEE, spare part usage, downtime analytics, and maintenance costs. Develop strategies for lifecycle management and equipment replacement planning. Team & Resource Management Manage maintenance supervisors, technicians, planners, and external contractors to ensure timely and high‑quality execution of work. Oversee CMMS operations, work order accuracy, and spare parts inventory optimization. 3. Facilities & Utilities Management Infrastructure Ensure proper operation, preventive maintenance, and documentation for building systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, compressed air, lighting, water systems, fire detection, and security infrastructure. Lead infrastructure upgrades, space expansions, and remodeling initiatives. Compliance & Safety Maintain compliance with building codes, environmental regulations, corporate EHS policies, and safety certifications. Conduct facility risk assessments and ensure readiness for inspections, audits, and emergency response. Sustainability & Cost Control Manage utilities consumption programs and execute energy efficiency initiatives (HVAC optimization, lighting upgrades, motor efficiency programs, etc.). Develop facilities budget, forecast annual maintenance expenditures, and track capital investment. 4. IT Infrastructure & Industrial Automation Systems Reliability Oversee plant‑level IT infrastructure, and work with IT Department to support reliability of networks, servers, industrial PCs, security systems, and connectivity to corporate systems. Ensure uptime of mission‑critical systems: MES, SCADA, PLC networks, data historians, and plant monitoring tools. Digital Manufacturing Support Industry 4.0 projects focused on real‑time data acquisition, predictive analytics, digital maintenance tools, and automated reporting. Collaborate with local and corporate IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure system compliance, resilience, and secure integration. 5. Continuous Improvement (CI) & Lean Leadership Lean Deployment Implement Lean Manufacturing methodologies: 5S, Kaizen, VSM, SMED, and waste reduction programs. Facilitate cross‑functional workshops to eliminate bottlenecks, reduce cycle time, and enhance productivity. Organizational Culture Train staff at all levels on CI tools, problem‑solving techniques, and standardization practices. Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement through KPI visibility and tiered meetings. Strategic Impact Identify improvement opportunities using data analysis, downtime studies, and process diagnostics. Track and report cost savings, efficiency gains, and compliance improvements from CI projects. 6. Leadership, Compliance, and Administrative Duties People Leadership Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering, maintenance, and CI professionals. Define team structure, set individual objectives, provide coaching, and conduct performance evaluations. Strategic Planning Develop long‑term technical roadmaps covering equipment modernization, automation, digitalization, utilities management, and infrastructure upgrades. Present technical proposals, budgets, and investment strategies to senior leadership. Audit & Compliance Management Coordinate compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR 820), EHS requirements, customer audits, and corporate standards. Ensure all work follows safety procedures and regulatory guidelines (including local STPS/NOM regulations when applicable). Documentation & Reporting Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on performance indicators, capital spending, reliability metrics, and improvement initiatives. Maintain detailed technical documentation and ensure audit‑ready records. Required Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electromechanical, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or related discipline is preferred. Professional Experience 10+ years of experience in manufacturing or maquila operations. Proven leadership overseeing Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities, Utilities, CI, or technical operations. Experience managing capital projects, complex technical systems, and multidisciplinary teams. Technical Competencies Strong understanding of automation, industrial equipment, utilities systems, and manufacturing processes. Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, TPM, CMMS systems, and root‑cause analysis tools. Experience with IT systems, industrial networks, PLCs/SCADA, MES, and manufacturing digitization. Leadership Competencies Strategic thinking, strong communication, and cross‑functional collaboration. Ability to prioritize, manage complexity, and lead organizational change. Strong analytical, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills.
