CNC Programmer

Position Summary The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating and improving Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programs for 3-4 axis lathes and vertical/horizontal/multi-axis machines under minimal supervision. Products typically start in steel bar stock or casting form. The position requires knowledge in horizontal/vertical milling, and 4 axis lathes with live tooling. This position will also be able to perform set-ups and proving out programs under minimal supervision. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Design, develop, and prove out programs that will machine complex geometry to close tolerances on multi-axis machining centers. Develop efficient manufacturing processes for optimal material removal. Set up and operate numerically controlled machines as needed. Recommend and set up tools, fixtures, and programs for new jobs, and improve current tools. Maintain and procure tool crib inventory. Check and maintain oil, fluid levels, and pressures. Adjust machines to control part dimensions. Instruct machine operators on operating and programming methods. Document procedures such as set-up sheets and tooling library. Plan daily activities and perform tasks proactively. Communicate effectively within the team and with external contacts. Serve as a resource for resolving complex problems. Collaborate with engineering and production departments on new product developments. Analyze program and tooling issues that cause downtime. Train and supervise associates. Troubleshoot issues with DNC systems. Maintain a clean and safe workplace following policies and core values. Qualifications and Competencies: Minimum 5 years of CNC programming experience and technical education or equivalent. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, programs, and blueprints. Proficiency in CAM software, MRP systems (MasterCAM, FeatureCAM, SAP preferred). Skilled in G and M code editing, multi-axis functions, and lathe live tooling with Fanuc controllers. Experience with SolidWorks preferred. Knowledge of MS Office applications. Ability to explain complex information clearly. Basic arithmetic skills.
