Sourcing Engineer IIThis role is within Chamberlain Group's Nogales Engineering group. A successful incumbent is expected to (i) Develop and review component/design recommendations with engineering in accordance with global sourcing, quality, and engineering strategies, while leveraging technical expertise to influence mentioned strategies, and (ii) Collaborate cross functionally to initiate and execute component qualification plans for Productivity, Sustaining Engineering and New Product Development. Requires 2+ years' experience in an engineering discipline; experience interfacing with parts/component suppliers/manufacturers; experience supporting parts/component selection and BOM scrubs; generated or maintained a bill of materials (BOM) and a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering or Technical Degree with equivalent experience. Develop and review component/design recommendations with engineering in accordance with global sourcing, quality, and engineering strategies, while leveraging technical expertise to influence mentioned strategies Collaborate cross functionally to initiate and execute component qualification plans for Productivity, Sustaining Engineering and New Product Development Perform risk assessment on all alternate parts/materials using GAP analysis methodology and identify viable alternatives/technologies and test plans for reduced cost, continuity of supply or improved quality; implement identified changes Work with Design and/or Product Engineering, manufacturers and suppliers to identify component/design substitutions required for all supply chain constraints and component discontinuations on Products Support standardization of, and best practices for, specification contents and component qualification requirements, informed by the type or category of parts Support the evaluation of component product life cycle, redundancy, supply chain capability, costing, environmental compliance & component packaging determined during BOM analysis Provide technical support for component-related throughput, quality issues and/or technical term discussions encountered by manufacturing, work with suppliers, manufacturing, quality engineering, design engineering & customers for resolution Participate in value analysis/value engineering processes with supplier base, making recommendations, when possible, to increase productivity Protect Chamberlain Group's reputation by keeping information confidential Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams. Education/Certifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering or Technical Degree with equivalent experience Experience: 2+ years' experience in an engineering discipline; experience interfacing with parts/component suppliers/manufacturers; experience supporting parts/component selection and BOM scrubs; generated or maintained a bill of materials (BOM) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Familiarity with general MS office applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point CAD solid modeling and surfacing proficiency (for Mechanical Engineering candidates) Ability to influence without direct authority Ability to collaborate and partner in a global/matrix environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills Experience in document control and maintenance Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and prioritize accordingly Strong attention to detail Other: Ability to travel up to 10% - domestically and internationally
