At nuDesk, we’re building a high-performance talent hub in Mazatlán — and we’re looking for a sharp, detail-obsessed Mortgage Underwriter to support one of our innovative U.S. clients in the non-QM lending space. You’ll play a critical role in assessing risk, reviewing loan files, and ensuring compliance with lending guidelines. What You’ll Do Loan Evaluation & Risk Assessment Analyze mortgage applications, credit reports, income docs, and property valuations Determine loan eligibility and assess borrower risk based on internal and regulatory criteria Apply non-QM underwriting knowledge to non-traditional borrower profiles Compliance & Documentation Ensure loan files meet all regulatory, investor, and internal standards Maintain thorough documentation for audits and quality reviews Flag inconsistencies or fraud risks in submitted materials Collaboration & Communication Partner with Account Managers, Loan Processors, and Brokers to drive file progression Communicate decisions and required conditions clearly and professionally Support escalated files and exceptions by providing structuring solutions Process Optimization Recommend process improvements and guideline updates based on loan trends Stay current on non-QM lending developments and participate in ongoing training What You Bring 1+ year of mortgage underwriting experience (non-QM strongly preferred) Strong understanding of ATR/QM, non-QM structures, and underwriting best practices Proficiency in LOS, AUS, and financial analysis tools Sharp analytical skills with high attention to detail Clear communicator with the ability to manage multiple files under tight timelines Able to work U.S. business hours and deliver consistently high-quality work
