Physician Medical Advisor

Medical Consultant Opportunity We are seeking a skilled Medical Consultant to join our team. This role will involve acting as a consultant for other physicians and providers, providing guidance on best practices, medical record and documentation concerns, medical necessity, and other concerns that could impact the organization. The ideal candidate will have a Doctorate in Medicine and excellent communication skills. They will be able to work efficiently and navigate complex medical charts to extract relevant information. Provide consultation services to physicians and providers on resource utilization, billing practices, and medical record and documentation concerns. Engage with insurance companies and medical directors to resolve cases where payment or prior authorizations have been denied. Conduct second-level case reviews for medical necessity and assess cases for appropriateness for hospital services or certain levels of stay. Assist case management with length of stay reviews and advise attending physicians on difficult cases with non-standard plans of care situations. Offer recommendations on inpatient admissions and outpatient services. Intervene in challenging situations between patients and clinicians or patients and the hospital system. Review national guidelines or standard of care to inform policies within the hospital system.
