The Job We are seeking a seasoned and innovative Tech Lead AI Scientist with a strong foundation in optimization, machine learning, and software engineering to join our team as a Tech Lead. What You'll Bring Educational Background: A Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field. Proven Experience: A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in data science, with a demonstrated track record of leading complex AI or machine learning projects from conception to production. Technical Expertise: Programming: Expert-level proficiency in Python and extensive experience building and maintaining Python packages. Machine Learning & Optimization: Deep knowledge of mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and a wide range of optimization and machine learning algorithms. Software Engineering: Strong software engineering fundamentals, including experience with Git (pull requests, merges, versioning), CI/CD pipelines, and building robust, scalable software. Leadership: Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Problem-Solving: A creative and analytical mindset with the ability to translate ambiguous business problems into concrete, actionable solutions. What You'll Do Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical authority for our AI and machine learning initiatives. You will guide architectural decisions, define best practices, and ensure the technical excellence of our AI products. Research & Development: Lead research and implementation of advanced algorithms, including heuristics, metaheuristics, and neural networks, to solve complex industrial manufacturing challenges. Tooling & Infrastructure: Design, develop, and maintain a sophisticated Python-based toolkit that will be utilized by all internal teams to streamline the development and deployment of AI models. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and data engineers to drive the end-to-end development lifecycle of our AI-powered Smart-Scheduler. Mentorship & Guidance: Mentor and coach data scientists and engineers across all teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in our AI practices. Data Strategy: Architect and implement scalable solutions for processing and analyzing extensive datasets, ensuring our data infrastructure can support our evolving AI needs. Responsibilities Take ownership of the design, development, and rigorous testing of sophisticated mathematical and machine learning models. Proactively identify and champion opportunities to apply AI and machine learning to solve critical business challenges. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define project roadmaps, and ensure alignment with our strategic goals. Author and maintain comprehensive documentation for our AI models, algorithms, and tooling. Drive a culture of quality and accountability by establishing and enforcing high standards for code quality, testing, and documentation. Operate with a high degree of autonomy, taking initiative to drive projects forward and deliver exceptional results.
