Location: Monterrey, Nuevo León, MexicoReports To: Executive Leadership Team Employment Type: Full-Time | Senior Leadership Industry: Truckload (TL) Freight — Dry Van & Flatbed | Cross-Border | Asset-Based CarrierTHE OPPORTUNITY We are a family office-backed truckload platform scaling aggressively from 50 trucks to 500+ over the next two years. Our fleet runs dry van and flatbed equipment across local P&D, regional, and cross-border corridors out of Monterrey. As we grow, world-class fleet maintenance is not a support function — it is a core competitive advantage. We are looking for an exceptional Director of Fleet Maintenance & Operations: a deeply experienced, technically sharp, and entrepreneurially driven leader who is ready to own this department completely. You will inherit a foundation and build it into a best-in-class operation — establishing the processes, technology stack, team structure, and culture that will keep hundreds of trucks running safely, efficiently, and profitably for years to come.If you are the kind of maintenance leader who sees broken processes as opportunities and gets energized by building something durable from scratch, this role was written for you.WHAT YOU'LL OWN As Director of Fleet Maintenance & Operations, you will have full accountability for:▸ Overseeing all aspects of fleet maintenance for a growing tractor and trailer pool — dry van and flatbed — including preventive maintenance programs, unscheduled repairs, roadside breakdowns, and compliance inspections. ▸ Leading, developing, and scaling a team of 20+ maintenance technicians, shop supervisors, and support staff — building a culture of accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement. ▸ Designing and implementing shop processes, PM scheduling systems, and maintenance SOPs from the ground up, with an eye toward scalability as the fleet grows 10x. ▸ Managing parts and supplies inventory with rigor — negotiating vendor pricing, establishing stocking levels, reducing waste, and maintaining cost discipline across all consumables and components. ▸ Negotiating and managing road service and breakdown vendor programs, ensuring driver downtime is minimized and emergency response costs are controlled. ▸ Standing up a 24/7 driver support function — establishing the staffing model, escalation protocols, and technology to ensure drivers always have a live resource when they need it. ▸ Defining the technology and systems roadmap for the maintenance department — identifying gaps, specifying requirements, and communicating enhancement requests to the tech development team, with particular focus on Agentic AI tools that can automate workflows, predict failures, and drive efficiency. ▸ Building and presenting maintenance KPIs and dashboards to the executive team — tracking uptime, cost-per-mile, PM compliance, repair cycle times, vendor performance, and more. ▸ Ensuring full compliance with DOT, NOM (Normas Oficiales Mexicanas), and cross-border regulatory requirements across the fleet. ▸ Partnering with operations leadership to align fleet availability with load plan demands and growth targets.WHO YOU ARE The right candidate is a rare combination: a technically elite fleet professional with the mindset of a builder and the instincts of an operator.▸ You have deep, hands-on experience managing large truckload fleets — tractors and trailers, dry van and flatbed — and you know what separates a well-run shop from a reactive one. ▸ You lead people with credibility earned on the shop floor and keep trust at all levels of the organization. ▸ You are a process architect — you've built PM programs, parts systems, and vendor networks that actually work at scale. ▸ You are tech-forward, not tech-resistant — you actively seek out tools that make your team faster and smarter, and you know how to communicate what you need from developers. ▸ You bring an ownership mentality: you don't wait for problems to be handed to you, and you don't pass on accountability when things go sideways. ▸ You understand that a truck that isn't moving, isn't making money — and every decision you make reflects that urgency. ▸ Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred given cross-border operations and executive team interactions.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS ▸ 8+ years of progressive fleet maintenance leadership experience at a truckload carrier, large private fleet, or equivalent environment ▸ Proven track record managing a fleet of 100+ tractors and an associated trailer pool (dry van and/or flatbed) ▸ Direct experience leading a team of 15+ maintenance technicians and shop personnel ▸ Strong command of preventive maintenance program design, DOT inspection compliance, and unscheduled repair management ▸ Demonstrated expertise in parts inventory management — including vendor negotiations, stocking strategies, and cost control ▸ Experience negotiating and managing road service / emergency breakdown programs ▸ Ability to define technology requirements and work with development or IT teams to implement fleet systems and tools ▸ Track record of building scalable processes in a high-growth or greenfield environmentPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ▸ Experience with fleet management systems (FMS), telematics platforms, and maintenance- focused TMS integrations ▸ Exposure to Agentic AI tools, predictive maintenance platforms, or automation-driven fleet operations ▸ Experience setting up or managing 24/7 driver support and breakdown coordination operations ▸ Familiarity with cross-border Mexico/US compliance and NOM regulatory requirements ▸ Background at a high-growth carrier, startup platform, or greenfield fleet buildout ▸ ASE certifications or equivalent technical credentials a plus WHY THIS ROLE ▸ Full ownership of a critical function — with the capital, support, and mandate to build it right. ▸ A rare chance to put your fingerprints on a fleet operation from its earliest days of scale. ▸ Compensation structure tailored to attract the right leader and reward performance. ▸ Executive-level visibility and a seat at the table on technology and growth strategy. ▸ A leadership team that understands maintenance is not a cost center — it's a competitive edge.If you've spent your career making fleets run better and you're ready to build something that lasts — let's talk.Apply with a resume and a brief note on the fleet operation you're most proud of building.
