The VEV Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the fabrication of prototypes from 3D CAD models and engineering drawings, interpret engineering designs, provide feedback on manufacturability, and solve fabrication challenges. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in mechanical or an equivalent manufacturing engineering. Min of 2+ years in CAD software skills Solid background with virtual manufacturing tools Proven in-depth experience with CNC metal cutting and assembly manufacturing processes. Experience operating CNC equipment, cutting tools, milling machine, etc. Proficient layout and measurement skills utilizing calipers, tape measures, protractors, and fixturing tools. Comfortable handling and working with materials such as steel, aluminum, stainless steel, carbon fiber, foams, plastics, etc. High attention to detail and organization. Experience building prototype vehicles. Strong communication and problem-solving skills (G8D) including working knowledge of Six Sigma. Demonstrated ability to work as a team. ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the fabrication of prototypes from 3D CAD models and engineering drawings. Interpret engineering designs, provide feedback on manufacturability, and solve fabrication challenges. Apply the Design for Manufacturing (DFM) approach to focus on simplifying designs, materials optimization and tooling processes to obtain a more cost-effective prototype before fabrication. Target: cost reduction, quality improvement and efficiency on lead times. Expertise in welding, metal forming, and precision cutting will be essential to creating high-quality prototypes. Utilize shop equipment such as CNC, drills, pneumatic tools, welding tools, etc. Mentor junior fabricators and contribute to the development of improved fabrication processes. Define workplan of Prototype Workshop based on capabilities installed and requests. Proactively track, document, and provide feedback with clear communication to management and engineers on project status and outcomes. Maintain a clean and productive workplace. #J-18808-Ljbffr
