The Mechanical Engineer II role at our organization involves applying engineering principles and practices to sustain mechanical issues with medium complexity. This position focuses on designing electro-mechanical systems requiring knowledge of power transmission, material strength, statics, dynamics, and materials science. Key responsibilities include CAD modeling, tolerance analysis, drafting, and bill of material creation. As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will resolve technical problems and implement corrective actions. You will interact and coordinate with Electrical Engineering, Technical Communications, Marketing, Manufacturing Personnel, Regulatory, and Outside Vendors. Develop mechanical designs that meet PRD requirements and translate these into working drawings and specifications Design parts for high-quality production with competitive costs by optimal material and manufacturing process selection Enter bills of materials into SAP by releasing Engineering Change Notices in Windchill Identify key characteristics in prints and specifications to ensure product performance and assembly process consistency using proper tolerance schemes, GD&T, statistical process control characteristics, and critical features to drive control plans development Design parts according to manufacturing standards practices such as plastic part design, sheet metal, and machining guidelines. Have basic knowledge of drafts, parting lines, resin behaviors, material properties, and cost, basic tooling design, and cost Participate in the tool design process while part design is being developed to ensure an optimal tooling/part design Create prototypes, mockups, or representations to illustrate concepts and ideas Participate in developing engineering validation test plans applying tools such as FMEA, FEA, tolerance stack-up analysis, and statistical analysis to optimize test plans Collaborate on validation plan execution and participate in resolving arising opportunities Identify, lead, or support productivity projects through concept, critical, and final design reviews by proposing material and design alternatives using mechanics of solids principles while maintaining product performance Propose solutions to product performance issues related to their design, customer complaints, and product life cycle using six sigma problem-solving tools like DOE, 8D's, poka yoke etc. Support potential line-down events which can include continuity of supply issues, assembly problems, and quality problems this may include evaluate and propose alternate materials, recommend alternate components, suggest alternative processes, perform or participate in root cause analysis Maintain reliable communication and documentation to each functional department to initiate sourcing, purchasing, inspection, manufacturing, and testing corresponding activities Adhere to APQP disciplines to ensure a robust part approval process Review PPAP document package and execute engineering assessment to manage design deviations Create and modify production Bills of Material and supporting component and assembly documentation Participate in developing the Interns and junior engineers in engineering practices and industry processes Perform and participate in peer reviews as needed especially for engineering changes and design reviews prepare Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred or minimum of 7 years of job-related experience as defined above in the Essential Functions section Advanced degree in directly applicable area of study may substitute for up to 2 years of experience English / Spanish + 1 year of job experience with bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Flexibility to travel up to 10% of time; international travel required Benefits: This role offers a dynamic work environment, opportunities for growth and development, and a competitive compensation package. Others: Our organization values diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are committed to creating a workplace culture that respects and supports all employees.
