Job Summary: This position reports to the Regional Controller Valmont Monterrey. This position is responsible for assisting the Regional Controller Valmont Monterrey with managing all compliance functions for Valmont Monterrey as well as providing analysis of Division and Site taxes, monitoring compliance in other areas and financial support as necessary. This position oversees the Customs and Trade Compliance function. Basic Qualifications (Required for job): Bachelor in Accounting; Strong understanding of Mexican tax law Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles Mexican FRS and US GAAP; Strong Microsoft Office and ERP system skills; Excellent analytical, writing and interpersonal skills; Ability to partner with personnel cross-functionally at all levels within the Company; Advanced English language > 90%. (To Validate on Interview) Preferred Qualifications (Optional): IFS a plus At least Five years of related experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in a Big Four in tax, audit or consulting Experience in Foreign Trade Compliance Nature and Scope: Responsibilities include: Assist Valmont Monterrey Controller in supervising monthly closing. Monitor compliance in other areas of the company including Environmental, Labor matters, Health, etc. Review of tax returns for VAT, Income Tax and local taxes Supervise the Foreign Trade department Ensure compliance with internal and external audits Oversee compliance with electronic accounting, electronic invoicing, REPSE, deferred taxes, carta porte, PTU, vendor blacklists, labor matters, social security and any other government entities Liaison with external advisors including legal, tax, foreign trade, industry associations and expeditors. Supervise Foreign Trade compliance Participating in special projects as needed related to new initiatives, processes, products, locations, systems, etc.; Prepare, evaluate, monitor transaction documentation in accordance with standards to comply with and hold others accountable for regularly reinforcing, maintaining, and improving the Valmont internal control environment in a complete and timely manner. Maintain an attitude that unlawful or unethical actions are not acceptable. Ensure that all financial and accounting entries are accurate and reflect the transactions described by supporting documents, including all payroll records. The incumbent is personally responsible for the integrity of this information. Ensure that accounting records conform to generally accepted accounting principles. Consult site management and/or the Global Utility Division Controller, if there are any questions. Ensure that applicants and employees are afforded equal opportunity in employment. Support and obey laws that prohibit discrimination. Providing budgeting, forecasting and ad hoc support to Regional Controllers and the Division Controller as necessary. Partnering with accounting personnel across Division sites to develop and improve accounting policies and practices and their documentation. Partnering with operation personnel, including GM, to ensure they understand accounting needs related to forecast, materials handling, internal control, monitoring variances and other joint tasks; Ensure that direct reports are familiar with and understand the provisions of the Valmont Industries, Inc., Code of Business Conduct as it relates to the work that they perform. Provide assistance to Valmont Monterrey Controller and Division Controller in the development and maintenance of the Division’s system of internal control. Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and maintain conformity with: FASB generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); SEC reporting and control regulations and guidance; and Valmont company policy, reporting, and internal control documentation and procedural activity standards; Meet financial accounting objectives and deadlines. Monitor Risk and Control Effectiveness – Conduct sufficient risk monitoring to regularly assess the ongoing effectiveness of the internal control design to implement improvements in a complete and timely manner. Compliance- The Compliance manager, is responsible to follow and monitor compliance.
