OUR CLIENT In this specific role, we are supporting a client that is an industry-leading Tier 1, 2 automotive component manufacturer. JOB SUMMARY The Materials Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, storage, control,distribution, inventory, and order fulfillment supporting our operations at our Mexico manufacturing plant. This role ensures the timely availability of materials while optimizing inventory levels, minimizing costs, and maintaining alignment with company policies. The Materials Control Manager will lead a team, collaborate with cross-functional departments, drive continuous improvement in supply chain processes, and implement robust cycle counting procedures to ensure inventory accuracy. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Materials Planning: Develop and implement material planning approaches to meet production schedules. Forecast material requirements based on production demands and market trends. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials. Inventory Management: Oversee inventory control to maintain optimal stock levels, minimize excess, and prevent shortages. Implement and manage cycle counting programs to ensure ongoing inventory accuracy and reconcile discrepancies promptly. Utilize inventory tracking systems and conduct regular audits to maintain data integrity. Monitor and report on key inventory metrics (e.g., turnover rates, obsolescence). Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor a team of materials coordinators, warehouse staff, and planners. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations for team members. Supply Chain Coordination: Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to align material availability with manufacturing needs. Work with logistics partners to ensure efficient material flow and delivery schedules. Resolve supply chain disruptions and implement contingency plans. Manage DC and order fulfillment to both OEM and aftermarket clients Cost Optimization & Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to reduce material costs through efficient inventory management or alternative sourcing. Implement lean inventory practices and other process improvements to enhance efficiency. Monitor and report on budget performance for materials and logistics. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree or APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP) is a plus. Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in materials management, supply chain, or logistics, preferably in a manufacturing environment. At least 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience. Experience with cycle counting processes and inventory control systems is required. Experience working in a mid-sized industrial company or manufacturing plant in Mexico is highly desirable. Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of inventory control and supply chain principles, including cycle counting methodologies. Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QAD, MFG Pro or similar) and inventory management software. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions. Fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal) is required. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
