Material Flow Specialist

The role of Materials Control Manager is critical to the success of our operations at the Mexico manufacturing plant. This position involves overseeing the planning, storage, control, distribution, inventory, and order fulfillment processes to ensure the timely availability of materials while optimizing inventory levels, minimizing costs, and maintaining alignment with company policies. Key Responsibilities: Materials Planning : Develop and implement material planning approaches to meet production schedules. Forecast material requirements based on production demands and market trends. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials. Inventory Management : Oversee inventory control to maintain optimal stock levels, minimize excess, and prevent shortages. Implement and manage cycle counting programs to ensure ongoing inventory accuracy and reconcile discrepancies promptly. Utilize inventory tracking systems and conduct regular audits to maintain data integrity. Monitor and report on key inventory metrics (e.g., turnover rates, obsolescence). Team Leadership : Supervise, train, and mentor a team of materials coordinators, warehouse staff, and planners. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations for team members. Supply Chain Coordination : Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to align material availability with manufacturing needs. Work with logistics partners to ensure efficient material flow and delivery schedules. Resolve supply chain disruptions and implement contingency plans. Manage DC and order fulfillment to both OEM and aftermarket clients Cost Optimization & Process Improvement : Identify opportunities to reduce material costs through efficient inventory management or alternative sourcing. Implement lean inventory practices and other process improvements to enhance efficiency. Monitor and report on budget performance for materials and logistics.
