Product Design Engineer Automotive Job We are seeking a skilled Product Design Engineer to join our team in Querétaro, Qro. Equivalent work experience may be substituted for degree. A minimum of ten years prior experience in drafting/design is required. Advanced understanding of manufacturing minimum process requirements is necessary. Expertise in the use of multiple CAD systems and/or expertise in 3D design of metallic/plastic products is required. Advanced knowledge in vehicle and component packaging is necessary. Advanced knowledge in vehicle performance requirements related to work designs is required. You must display fundamental capabilities of teamwork, problem-solving, customer focus, communication, and respect. About the Role: This position involves utilizing Unigraphics NX CAD and/or CATIA V5 software to develop initial concepts into CAD designs for OEM Programs. Essential Job Functions include: Managing development projects. Working closely with Product Development Engineers to design concepts that meet customers' needs and requirements. Developing departmental databases and personal time logs for tracking and reporting purposes. Performing advanced CAD functions. Providing CAD math data transfers, e.g., FTP sites, customer portals, etc., for the company's internal and external customers. Resolving CAD issues and driving continuous improvement based on industry trends/research. Ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and work instructions related to design work. Establishing and maintaining departmental processes and design/drafting standards. Acting as escalation point for questions or concerns related to designs. Setting direction for and driving departmental and corporate meetings as required. Developing accurate engineering bill of materials to support assigned projects. Establishing strong relationships with our internal and external customers. Mentoring and coaching less experienced team members. Managing and prioritizing day-to-day activities. Assisting with resource and capacity planning for the Product Design team. Providing input into the Strategic Planning process for Engineering and helping drive strategic plan and priorities. Working within our core manufacturing processes, launch process, vehicle design packaging, GD&T, DFMEA, Design for Manufacturing, and product performance knowledge methodologies. Identifying and training a back-up(s) to manage key tasks when absent. Additional functions not specifically outlined in this position description as directed by the leader.
