Be a part of a team that enjoys making a difference with the people around them, tackling one exciting challenge at a time with work that matters to the world!**JOB PURPOSE**:To ensure correct stock records and inventory counts and to maintain accurate and timely related records.**JOB DUTIES**:The Materials Clerk receives and reviews material representing the parts to be counted in the annual test count program and other materials issued daily by Inventory Control to resolve inventory discrepancies or to determine the quantity of surplus parts on hand. The incumbent, with input from the Supervisor, considers the type of family of parts to be counted, urgency, part status, models used on, requirements, previous activity, etc. to recommend the count sequence, release schedules, overtime, related Material Control labor required, etc., to complete the count. The Clerk reviews the count material for completeness and accuracy of data, refers to part records and contacts Inventory Control and Purchasing personnel to clarify or obtain related information. The incumbent sorts the count forms by the appropriate factory areas, part status, desired count sequence, etc. applies the appropriate inventory code and date, and distributes or forwards them to hourly personnel in factory locations.Delays in the return of count cards from the various factory areas or delays in the processing of returned cards through Inventory Control are investigated by the incumbent and if necessary alternate count methods are suggested. Assistance is provided by the incumbent in completing counts by obtaining blueprints and additional part information, coordinating the transfer of count information between factory areas, etc. The Clerk reviews completed count information and LRM (Lost/Recovered Material) documents for completeness and reasonableness of information. If any information appears questionable the Clerk contacts the hourly personnel or initiates a recount as appropriate.The completed information is then forwarded to Inventory Control or Accounting.The incumbent maintains the appropriate records, performs follow-up functions as necessary and prepares monthly reports of count activity, progress, special projects, etc. Numerous inquiries are answered by this position regarding count status, LRM, transactions, record adjustments, material location, etc.**BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE**: Requires 1 - 3 years’ experience in or equivalent knowledge of Inventory Control, Purchasing and/or Requirements. The ability to operate a personal computer and/or a main frame computer terminal is required, and a knowledge of Materials data processing systems is desirable.
