Job Summary The Field Service Technician performs the assembly, installation, and commission of equipment. Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical problems and/or the built-in hardware & software control programming. Performing customer service for the North & South American market and occasional support for other subsidiaries worldwide. Essential Functions Machine Installation & Maintenance: Install and start up new and used machines, conduct onsite repairs, perform preventive maintenance, and inspect or upgrade used equipment. Testing & Troubleshooting: Test repairs to meet technical specifications, modify PLC programs, and debug systems as needed. Customer Support: Train operators and technicians, provide technical advice on maintenance, upgrades, and spare parts, and perform trials with products and packaging formats. Collaboration: Communicate design updates, provide root cause analysis feedback to internal teams, and support electrical engineering tasks like drawing updates. Reporting: Maintain detailed daily reports and ensure clear documentation of activities. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other tasks as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Technical Expertise: Proficient in automation principles, electrical circuitry, PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens), PCs (e.g., Isagraf), and reading pneumatic and hydraulic drawings. Capable of modifying control logic and performing field programming as required. Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, customer service, and interpersonal abilities. Knowledge of Spanish or French is an advantage. Work Flexibility & Travel: Able to travel extensively (80%+), work weekends and overtime, and adapt to stressful situations or changing priorities. Teamwork & Independence: Works well independently and in a team, managing multiple projects with minimal supervision. Health & Safety & Administrative Skills: Strong awareness of health and safety, mechanical aptitude, and fluency with Windows Office products. Education and Experience Minimum of an Associate Degree in Electronic Technology. Practical experience may be substituted for years of education. 5 years’ experience troubleshooting packaging machines, preferably filling and capping machines.
