**Company Description**The position holder is responsible for managing purchasing transactions with external and internal suppliers to support the efficient procurement of direct materials or sub-contract services. This position requires strong attention to detail and rigor to ensure effective management of direct material requirements.Senior Purchasing Specialists operate as part of the Procurement Team. Responsible for ensuring transactional efficiency of goods and subcontract services for the business in a defined scope of support from internal and external suppliers, in line with Smiths Group PLC Code of Conduct and John Crane P2P policy, ensuring that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships.**Qualifications**- 2+ years of experience working within a purchasing department- Advanced english- Understanding of MRP driven procurement (SAP ideally)- Able to read and understand technical drawings- Analytical skills - Good knowledge of Microsoft programs, Power BI data extraction and analysis including Excel v-lookup and pivot tables- Process-driven approach and “systems thinking”- Ability to solve problems and make improvements to process with support and in a structured way (e.g. A3), able to use data to inform decisions- Excellent communication and relationship management skills- Ability to project a positive and professional image on behalf of the organization, always promoting ethical procurement**Additional Information**According our mission, vision and Global Policies: Under no circumstances shall Staff be charged any fee or other costs in relation to their recruitment to work at Smiths, whether directly or indirectly.
