The Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for providing specialized technical expertise in the design, execution, supervision, and commissioning of electrical systems for infrastructure and operational projects. This role supports the planning, risk management, and compliance of projects while ensuring technical quality and operational efficiency. Additionally, the Electrical Project Engineer acts as a technical leader for electrical-related matters within multidisciplinary projects and can assume general Project Engineer responsibilities when required. Key Activities: Electrical Systems Design & Review Design, review and validate electrical engineering, technical specifications, and drawings (medium & low voltage, lighting, grounding, emergency systems, UPS, generators, M&E integration). Review, supervise and validate sustainability technologies such as photovoltaic panel systems and electromobility projects. Supervise compliance with applicable codes, regulations and standards (NOM, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, etc.). Project Planning & Execution Support Support the development of technical scopes, schedules, and cost estimations for electrical works. Manage electrical contractors, suppliers, and integrators to ensure quality and adherence to timelines. Monitor project progress, controls costs, and reports deviations. Technical Support & Compliance Provide electrical expertise during implementations, commissioning, and operational readiness stages. Conduct inspections, factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and supervise electrical commissioning protocols. Risk & Issue Management Identify and mitigate electrical-specific risks (load capacity, protection, redundancy, safety hazards). Support incident investigations and corrective actions. Support in Business Case Analyses (BCA) Provide technical inputs on electrical feasibility, estimated investment, lifecycle costs, and technical alternatives for project BCAs led by Project Managers. General Project Engineer Backup When required, assume general Project Engineer responsibilities for multidisciplinary projects (civil, mechanical, HVAC, infrastructure expansions) ensuring continuity in project management support. Key Soft Skills: Effective cross- functional communication Analytical thinking Teamwork & Collaboration Resilience & Adaptability Attention to Detail Time Management Critical thinking & Problem Solving Self-driven & proactive Key Hard Skills: Proficiency in low & mid-voltage electrical design, switchgear design, single-line diagrams & drawings. Load analysis software (ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or similar — optional but valuable) Cost estimation & budget control techniques. FAT, SAT, commissioning, and protection testing procedures Regulatory knowledge (NOM, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC standards) Electrical design tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, or BIM) Desirable: Project Management Methodologies (PMI, Prince 2, Escala, Agil, etc..) Reporting and dashboarding (Excel, Power BI or equivalent) Photovoltaic panel system experience. Electromobility experience. Educational Qualifications & Experience: Degree: Bachelor’s degree in electrical or Electromechanical Engineering Desirable Certifications: Electrical Safety Certification, PMP®, NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, Lean Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt Experience: +5 years in electrical engineering roles or similar; preferably in logistics, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
