Linux Engineering Manager - Optimisation for Latest Hardware Join to apply for the Linux Engineering Manager - Optimisation for Latest Hardware role at Canonical Lead an engineering team that partners with Linux engineers from a major silicon company, working across the full Linux stack—from kernel to GUI—to optimise Ubuntu for the latest silicon hardware. This role is fast-paced and problem-solving oriented, requiring resourcefulness, articulate communication, and the ability to deliver diverse solutions across PC and IoT technologies. The team collaborates with silicon engineers to integrate next-generation features and performance enhancements for upcoming hardware. As a Partner Engineering Manager at Canonical, your responsibilities include managing relationships with key technology partners, ensuring timely project delivery, providing technical leadership, developing engineers, influencing company culture, and strategizing with your team. What you'll do Lead a distributed engineering team to design and implement optimal Ubuntu integrations for IoT and server hardware platforms. Engage with partners to deliver a high-quality, optimised Ubuntu experience on their platforms. Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, leading by example, and providing feedback. Oversee commercial engagements and ensure project milestones are met. Maintain high standards of quality and reliability. Coordinate with other Canonical teams to align on product architecture and roadmaps. Work remotely with global travel up to twice a year for up to two weeks. Who you are Experienced with Linux distributions, Debian packaging, and high-performance server hardware. Skilled in working directly with customers, resolving technical issues, and communicating solutions effectively. Proven experience managing or leading software engineering teams. Understanding of agile development methodologies. Effective at collaborating across teams, building trust, and delivering results. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral.
